National Voter Registration Act
In 1993, the National Voter Registration Act, "NVRA", was established by Congress and signed into law by President William J. Clinton. The Act enhances the voting opportunities for every American by providing for registration by mail and by increasing the number of locations where eligible persons can apply to register or update their voter registration records. The Act designated certain governmental offices/agencies to offer persons voter registration opportunities at the same as they receive other governmental or public services. In 1995, the Florida Voter Registration Act, "FVRA", building upon the NVRA provisions, was signed into law by Governor Lawton Chiles.
